What Did You Just Call Me?

So, to start things off, here’s a typical exchange between Baby Daddy and I on any day that ends in ‘Y’.

Me: Could you give me a hand with this?

BD: *insert smart ass remark here*

Me: You are such an asshole.  (This is usually said with a chuckle and deep affection, because, while he may be lazy when it comes to housework, my guy is funny.)

Now, here’s my question: What terms of endearment do you use with your significant other?

As you can see from the above exchange, my husband and I tend to be snarky and sarcastic, even when we’re being affectionate.  He says or does something to rile me up, I start mouthing off, and then he sits back with a smile on his face and enjoys the ride.  Apparently, there are a lot of men out there who find this sort of behavior entertaining.  Anyone else married to a guy like mine?  You know, he picks at you until you blow, then thinks it’s hilarious when you tell him that you intend to wax his scrotum in the middle of the night.  Actually, I’m probably going to just yank his chest hair or squirt him with a water gun, but I like to try and scare him a little.

Or do you and your guy use words like honey or baby?  Maybe pumpkin?  Snookums?  I call my hubby babe a lot.  Hey, babe, do you want chicken or pork chops for dinner tonight?  Babe, can you please take out the trash?  That sort of thing.

Maybe you hate pet names altogether and, if your significant other calls you baby, he better be ready for you to ream his ass.  I do know some women that would smack their hubbies upside the head for daring to call a grown woman baby or babe.  While I can see their point (somewhat), I kinda think it’s sweet when Baby Daddy does it.

So, tell me all about the little pet names you call your SO or what they call you.  Do you love it or hate it?  This inquiring mind wants to know!

  1. Amy Amy

He calls me Ames or Amy, which is my name (and I hate it…. It sounds so little girlish!). But it gets me every time!

  2. Lisa Lisa

I call my hubby many different names depending on the mood I am in. If I’m in a really good mood and he does something really nice for me I’ll call him “Love” (short for love of my life). Other pet names I use for him are stinkle, stinkle bunny or babe. When he is being bad …depending on the severity I will call him a jerk for not too severe..but when he pisses me off about something I call him an asshole.

We also play around, I make threats to him and “play yell” at him with these threats and he returns it. People that don’t know us very well and hear us talking like that to each other get a shocked look on their face…but D and I know it’s all play and we laugh about it later. If you ask him…he will tell you that he is an abused spouse…but then he says that he likes it. 😀
